indeed. i like this line:
Mr. Rumsfeld dismissed Mr. Robertson's remark on assassination, saying: "Certainly it's against the law. Our department doesn't do that type of thing."
riiiiight.
the scariest thing about robertson saying that is that all sorts of citizens, public and private, might start thinking about it.
when did oil interests and the interests of evangelists suddenly coalesce?
oh yeah, nevermind.

oh wait, maybe this one is better (sorry this is just too good)
The Rev. Jesse Jackson called for the Federal Communications Commission to investigate, just as it did when Janet Jackson's breast was exposed in the Super Bowl broadcast in 2004. "This is even more threatening to hemispheric stability than the flash of a breast on television during a ballgame," Mr. Jackson said.
even more threatening? even more?
whatever these people are smoking... anyway.

Dang, lookee there. Venezuela has all these oil reserves and it's right down there near Texas. How convenient. Let's accuse them of communisim and terrorism and any other isms which might let us just turn it into Bush country south.

This is pure speculation, but I've seen suggestions that Robertson might be angry at Venezuala because some business dealings of his have been frustrated.
He's been in dubious business arrangements before. Google on Robertson and diamond.

If Pat Robertson was a Muslim from another country demanding the assasination of George Bush, he'd be in Guantanomo.
